Client selects acoustic shapes for silicon valley headquarters

Light Field Lab

Interior designer, Deb Longua-Zamero of DLZ | INTERIORS in collaboration with Client, Jeff Barnes, created a visual playground for Light Field Lab’s new San Jose office space, selecting Acoufelt to create custom acoustic Shapes for their spectacular corridor feature wall.

The refurbished headquarters of Silicon Valley’s shiniest Light Field Lab, a venture capital backed tech company specializing in holographic technology, has been transformed into what the designer describe as “an innovative workplace environment, incorporating light, reflectivity, texture and depth perception”. The intricate project included a new reception area, cafe, employee lounge, executive conference room and client display rooms.

The design team approached Acoufelt with a distinct vision in mind: to create a custom corridor feature wall of “disintegrating triangles of various Escheresque shapes” in colors mirroring the vibrant LED light channels in the neighboring hallway. Each of the 500-piece multi-colored shapes were custom precision cut from our FilaSorb™ acoustic material, with the final installation covering an area of 1 metre high and 3 metres in length.

The clever play of colors, texture, and contrasting light and dark in this wall installation perfectly serves the design intention of this project; encapsulating the highly visual and experience-oriented ethos of Light Field Lab.
